"I have been on THE MMethod for about 6 months and am happy to say that I have lost nearly 20 pounds, hallelujah! This was my goal when I first started THE MMethod, yet, I can't believe that I am actually reaching it, especially since I haven't been this weight in years, since I was in my 20s!



It's been exciting. I first signed up to discover THE MMethod because I noticed that sometimes I could sabotage my weight loss efforts with unsupportive eating patterns and behaviors (like eating when I wasn't hungry or when I was stressed or distracted, and not minding my portions). But what I love about this program is that it focuses on my eating behaviors and portion control in a really natural way, which provides vital support to my exercise and dietary efforts. It has taught me savvier and healthier ways of handling my meals and snacks, some of which I never knew about before, but which skinnier people probably practice every day. In combination with other efforts, THE MMethod has worked wonderfully for me so far and I feel great and haven't gotten sick as often, too. I also love receiving the daily "reminders" that give me cool tips on how to deal with my meals for the day and remind me of my goals and resolutions. They have been most helpful during vulnerable, stress-filled days! Wansink's book, "Mindless Eating," was hugely insightful too and I talk about it with my nutritionist friends - put it on your reading list!



Overall, I highly recommend this program to everyone who wants to pay closer attention to their eating behaviors and improve them, in order to better support their exercise, dietary, and personal weight-loss goals. I'm so glad I discovered [THE MMethod], thanks to CSPI/Nutrition Action's Newsletter. Thank you, MMethod, for the wonderful and vital work you do to help us all be healthier. "It's working! I am losing weight, but more importantly I am losing inches. Not a drastic loss... I think I've been at MMethod for 3 months and I'm down 5-7 lbs, but I'm happy with that and it seems like I'm making changes that will continue when my membership is up in 3 months. "It's the 10th of June and my weight loss has finally kicked in, or maybe I should say, 'My awareness of what is going in my mouth is finally registering.' Thanks to the help of USD 259 (Wichita Public Schools) and their offers of weight loss and control books and programs, perhaps I will get back to a better weight for me. It has taken the constant reminders and various book reviews over the last few years. I always knew I should do something, but didn't get honest with me until the last 6 months. I finally started a food log in March this year. Then the heart attack woke me up too. Since I am eating much more reasonable amounts each day, I don't require as much sleep, or I am more alert when I am awake. I will be going back to work for Wichita Public Schools in a sub position for 6 weeks starting next Monday. So thanks to THE MMethod for the boost to success this 6 months (January to June 2011). I will keep the new habits going and make the rest of my time on this earth healthy and active."

"I learned yet another lesson this past weekend. I have been very frustrated with my weight as I have been following THE MMethod and I have been exercising a lot, but I haven't lost a pound in the past couple of weeks. I recently had to meet my wife somewhere but I didn't have the proper clothing, so I asked her to bring me a pair of jeans. When I arrived I learned that she had brought me a pair of jeans that I knew were going to be too small. BUT when I put them on, they actually fit. Woot woot! Despite not losing any weight in two weeks, I have gone from a 40" waist to a 38", with a little room to spare, I might add :)."

"Finally off the plateau and hoping to meet my next weight goal soon. I am down 15 pounds since January and I have lost [a total of] 32 pounds since I initially read the Mindless Eating book in the fall...those who have not seen me in awhile are asking what I've done to lose the weight. It is nice to be able to tell them that I am using THE MMethod and that I am not really dieting, just eating reasonably. When I explain it to them, they all want me to send them the link to THE MMethod website! For the first time, I don't feel like I will just turn around and pack all of the pounds back on because instead of deprivation, it is common sense and forming good habits...The best part is that I feel so much better both physically and mentally. When I think about slipping back into those old eating habits - for me the biggest problem is portion sizes - I stop for a minute and remind myself how much better I feel and how I don't want to give up that feeling."

"Sooooo, I have to tell what happened the other night. My 23-year-old dancer/personal trainer daughter came home from a very intense day, starving!! She has been around my 'mindless eating' for quite awhile and understands it, implementing a lot of what I do. Well, she went to get one of the 'small' plates I used to use (prior to getting the MM Thinware dinnerware), but then she saw the MM plates. She quickly put the 'small' plate back, grabbing a MM plate stating, 'I'm way too hungry tonight to use a small plate!!' I stifled a laugh and didn't say anything until two days later when we happened to be in the kitchen at the same time without her dashing off somewhere. I gave her a little demonstration with the two plates, and pointed out that she actually used a 'smaller portion plate' that night by eating off the MM dinnerware! And she was satisfied with it. She just THOUGHT she was getting more because the plate appears bigger, but she was actually eating less. Yep, hunger is a MIND GAME!!"

"I am extremely excited! I have lost 3 pounds in two weeks. Normally I wouldn't look at this as a big deal, but this time things are different. I had a few meals in the last couple of weeks that weren't the healthiest, but with the exception of when I ate at Donna's I have kept my portions under control. The other reason the weight loss is a big deal is that I usually workout for about an hour each day, but I haven't been very consistent with it the past two weeks. I used to count on my workouts to offset the calories I was taking in. It is very refreshing to know that if I am eating not just the right kinds of foods but the correct amounts (even if it isn't the healthiest), I can still lose weight."

"I thought I knew myself pretty well. And when the MMethod Solution to drink equal amounts of water as I do other beverages came up, I thought it was rather "stupid." I thought, "I already drink lots of water; I don't drink pop hardly ever, and I only drink milk and orange juice besides water so this is kind of worthless..." (I even talked to MMTeam Mary about it!) BUT, because I like checking off my list each day, I have been careful to make sure I drink my "equal parts" water with my milk or orange juice. And I have learned something: I drink more milk and orange juice than I realized. My "equal parts" water has REALLY helped me curb the extra liquid caloric intake, and I haven't missed it! Thanks again, for an amazing program!"

I think one of the biggest factors here for me (and it's a different thing for everyone) is that I am not psychologically fighting a sense of deprivation. The whole eating slow thing is really helping, too. Yesterday, I ate my breakfast so slow, I swear I really really enjoyed every bite. "Love THE MMethod! Down 11 lbs after a month and a half! It is nice that I don't feel that I am on a 'diet' but making healthy lifestyle choices instead. I feel for the first time that I will be able to keep the weight off because I am not depriving myself of the food that I love, I am just eating less of it. It is interesting that since I have started THE MMethod, I have not had to take my prescription medication for reflux or heartburn. I have not suffered from either since the week I began! I am continuing my solutions that I began the first month as well as adding the new set of solutions. I have altered one of my current solutions from a mint following my first serving to a piece of sugarless gum instead. I have also started my hour of walking and have a friend interested in training to do a 5k run with me. For the first time in a long time I feel like I have the ability to accomplish this goal!"

"Well, I am almost to the end of my first 30 days. And I have to say that I am pretty pleased with the results. I am down 4 pounds this month while only doing a few exercises. Most of the weight loss came from this wonderful MMethod. This loss of 4 pounds was enough to put me down a dress size. My confidence is much higher and I seem to have more energy. I just had someone today say that I seem more radiant the past week. That makes me feel great knowing other people are noticing how I feel. I didn't realize that just eating healthier would make me feel so much better. I am definitely hooked on THE MMethod!!! Of course I did enjoy a couple of treats throughout the month but I ate small portions and really enjoyed them while eating. Just last night I had a Twinkie for the first time. I love them!! I only ate one and it took me a whole 5 minutes to finish it!! I was satisfied with that and did not snack the rest of the evening. I am so amazed at how well this program is working that I cannot wait for my next 30 days of challenges! Thanks to everyone who helped me this month when I was feeling a little frustrated and down. I know I will have bad days but I now know I can get past them without the gorging of food."

"Just received my new Thinware dishes.....Love 'em! So nice to have this addition to support my new MMethod Eating habits. I went all out and bought serving for 12 plus the platter. My favorite thing about them is the shape of the bowl. Very classy for serving soups and pastas...I'm back in shape. The weight is really coming off now. I'm within 3 lbs of my lowest a month ahead of my goal. I'm hoping to hit it in a week or two and then continue to new lows. My kids and hubby are loving the Half Plate Rule. "After researching your site and reading [Mindless Eating], I decided to make ‘mindless eating’ my topic for professional and lay presentations for a grad class I took over the summer. I used the ‘three little jelly beans’ information combined with info about how many [pieces of red licorice] it would take to gain one pound in a year. I also had other items, such as coffee and a bagel and cream cheese.
