What is THE MMethod program? view
It is a program to transform unhealthy Mindless Eating® habits into healthier habits by making a series of easy changes in the way you think and act about food.
THE MMethod is not a diet? How can that be? view
We don't tell you to give up any foods that you love. We don't tell you to measure your portions or weigh your food or count calories or count carbs or anything like that. We don't require special foods or powders or pills. We focus instead upon helping you make better decisions automatically about when and what and how to eat, to help you adopt healthier habits that will have a big benefit as you repeat those actions by habit many, many times in the future.
How will THE MMethod help me lose weight if it is not a diet? view
We help people make small, easy changes in their eating habits in a targeted, incremental program. Over time these small changes add up and become a part of the unthinking routines of the day. Once the new habits have taken hold, eating smaller amounts of healthier foods occurs just as mindlessly as overeating of less healthy foods used to occur. The frequent result is significant weight loss without deprivation dieting, and the new, healthier habits help keep the weight off.

How do I participate in THE MMethod program? view
The only way to participate in THE MMethod program is through membership in this website.
We provide a MMethod Eating Transformation plan that is tailored to your needs and personality, we support your performance of your plan, and we change your plan over time based upon your experience in order to take you to greater levels of success in adopting healthier habits.
How do you create a plan that is unique to me? view
Our MMethod Advisor asks you easy-to-answer questions about your lifestyle, personality, and goals. We use that information to identify your problem eating areas, called Mindless Eating Challenges, and to select MMethod Eating Solutions from our exclusive database that are both effective in meeting that Challenge and compatible with your personality. This creates an action plan that is tailored to your needs and characteristics.
Is this just a way to lose weight, or are there other benefits? view
THE MMethod can provide many benefits. Most people use the Method to lose weight, or to eat more healthfully. Others join to help their family members eat less and better. Importantly, THE MMethod is designed to make durable lifestyle changes, so you keep the healthy habits and keep the weight off (we call this Keep the Change).
Can I be on a diet while I follow THE MMethod program? Yes! view
THE MMethod is designed to work on its own, but if you choose to diet, the effectiveness of your diet plan may be enhanced by your adoption of better eating habits through THE MMethod while you watch what you eat on your diet. You can also expect to lose weight more quickly if you are dieting while participating in THE MMethod. The choice of whether to "diet" is up to you and your doctor or dietitian.
Does THE MMethod have exercise requirements? No! view
We encourage everyone to exercise in the manner and to the extent that their doctors recommend, but THE MMethod does not impose any particular exercise routine or activity level.
How long will it take for me to lose weight? view
The pounds will not "fly off" as they temporarily do with deprivation diets. As weight can creep on, it can creep off too. Our intention is to help weight come off - often for good - at a rate of about one or two pounds per month, sometimes more.
How do I know the changes will last? view
You can expect to Keep The Change because it will be achieved by changing the way you think and act about food, and by adopting healthier habits for life, and not just by starving yourself for a while.
Will this help just me, or my family too? view
Your participation will almost certainly help your family as well, especially if you are the Nutritional Gatekeeper who makes most of the food decisions for the household.
Is it helpful to join with a spouse or friend? Yes! view
Most people find it more fun and effective to follow a program like this with a supportive friend or family member. We encourage this by providing a substantial discount for people who join together.
What support will I receive to stay with the program and succeed? view
The site itself provides lots of self help in the Planner, tracking tools, and other self-guided features. We also encourage your participation in our exclusive on-line community where you can join groups and make friends with people who are sharing your experience. We also provide electronic reminders, such as emails and text messages, to help you keep up the good work with your plan.
Can I learn to change my mindless overeating habits by reading books or articles? view
Most people can't, not even experts in the field. Dr. Wansink admits that he catches himself doing it! Books and articles can be helpful, but because they don't interact with you, they can't identify for you the areas of your behavior that need to change, or tell you which of the hundreds of possible MMethod Eating Solutions will work best for you, or tell you how to incorporate those tips into your lifestyle, or provide support for you to adopt change, or modify your program as you start to achieve success. If books and articles alone could transform people's mindless overeating habits, most of us would be thin already!
Is it expensive to be a member? No! view
Membership in THE MMethod costs less than most weight loss programs – less per week than the cost of a typical fast-food meal. And unlike other programs, we do not require the purchase of any special foods or any medications.
Are there extra charges of any kind other than the cost of membership? No! view
You pay only for membership. All members enjoy all features of the site at all times at no extra cost.
Are there discounts for long-term membership? Yes! view
The longer your membership, the lower the average monthly cost. Average costs are even lower if you sign up with a "buddy". After 12 consecutive months of membership you become eligible for our Keep the Change™ Maintenance Plan. This provides a 50% discount from the full annual membership fee. Discounted pricing for Keep the Change is computed automatically at the time of renewal. This way you can keep updating your plan, continue to get the support of the community, and share the wisdom you’ve gained with other members, all at a great discount.
Can I quit if I don’t like the plan? Yes! view
We’ll process early resignation and refund fees after a non-refundable initial three-month period. We don’t refund for quitting sooner because it takes time to break habits and create good ones. We want to encourage you to commit to the plan for at least three months so you can have a chance to get some real benefits before your membership ends, even if you decide not to continue.
Why aren’t there any ads in THE MMethod web site? view
Ads can be a distraction from the features of the site, so we do without ad revenue.
Everybody says their plan is easy. Why should I believe THE MMethod is? view
THE MMethod is easy to follow because it was designed by a world expert in eating behavior and food psychology to be easy to follow. That is one reason why THE MMethod works while many other plans fail - because we intentionally avoid asking anyone to do anything that would be difficult for them.
